Castline

Short version: Castline stores everything on your device. We operate no user accounts, no analytics, and no ads. We never receive your location or your fishing spots.

What we collect

Nothing. Castline has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics SDKs, and no advertising SDKs. The app makes no connection to any server operated by us.

Location

If you tap Use my location, Castline reads your coordinates once to find the nearest preset fishing spot. That calculation happens entirely on your device. Your coordinates are never transmitted to us or to any third party, and they are not stored after the nearest spot is chosen. You can instead pick a spot from the list without granting location permission at all.

Weather and tide data

To build the fishing score, Castline fetches forecasts directly from your device:

Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) — barometric pressure, wind, air temperature, sunrise/sunset, sea surface temperature
NOAA CO-OPS (tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov) — tide predictions for US coastal stations

These requests contain only the spot's coordinates and are made by your device straight to those providers, under their own privacy policies. Saved spots, preferences, and scores live in your device's local storage and never leave it.

Permissions

Internet — to fetch forecasts from the providers above.
Location (coarse / fine) — only when you ask for the nearest spot. Optional.
Notifications — only if you enable bite-window reminders. Optional.

Children

Castline contains no content directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this URL with an updated date.
